Sarah Dunnevant is a lyric soprano and voice and piano teacher based in the Nashville area. Throughout middle and high school, she enjoyed seriously studying piano and competing in piano competitions throughout Middle Tennessee as well as writing her own music in her spare time. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from MTSU, where she studied with H. Stephen Smith. While at MTSU, she also took lessons in composition, piano, and organ. Whether accompanying the Women's Chorale, tacking on a few music education courses, or premiering many new works of music by student composers, Sarah often went beyond the requirements of her major in pursuit of a more multi-faceted collegiate experience.
Since then, she has performed with local ensembles such as Portara Ensemble, Nashville Opera, and Nashville Symphony Chorus, and has been singing with Vocal Arts Nashville since 2018. In 2019, she could be found touring with the Nashville Opera’s educational outreach program in the lead role of “Abrazo de Oso!”, a youth opera by Anna Young. She premiered new works by Nashville area composers for local classical radio in 2020 as well as for the Nashville Composer Collective in 2021 and 2022. She is also a section leader in the Chancel Choir at West End United Church, where she enjoys singing sacred works large and small. Sarah has a keen interest in vocal pedagogy, having attended the Westminster Choir College Vocal Pedagogy Institute, and enjoys teaching both piano and voice students during the week. When she’s not making music, she also enjoys playing video games and baking with her husband Patrick, a Vocal Arts Nashville baritone.
